About Me

Hey, I’m Madeleine.

Welcome to my humble little space on the internet, it's lovely to have you here.

I’m a Fertility Awareness educator from Sydney, Australia.

Prior to 2019 I'd been on hormonal contraceptives (the Pill) for my entire adult life and a chunk of my teens. I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) at 14 and was told by every doctor and specialist that I had seen that the pill was one of the only treatments for PCOS and the best way for me to regulate my hormones. Because I was being told this information by a medical professional I believed them, for years! As I entered my late 20's I started to really question if being on the pill was really the only option. Truth be told, I had been having side effects for years and hadn't made the connection. However once I started really looking into how hormonal contraceptives really impact our bodies I became determined to come off them.

This lead me straight to Fertility Awareness. I was scrolling through Instagram late one night and I saw a popular PCOS account sharing an article that talked about tracking fertile biomarkers to time sex for conception rather than incorrectly timing sex when you are infertile and I thought, why can't I just use this the other way - and avoid sex when I'm fertile.

From there my Fertility Awareness journey was all consuming. I was obsessed and like a sponge learning all of these things about my body that I had never been told before. After the initial wonderment wore off I got angry. I couldn't believe how much we are lied to about our bodies!

From there I sought out an instructor and learnt the Symptothermal Double Check method of Fertility Awareness and my passion for Fertility Awareness was sealed. Being able to see my body working the way that is meant to and the feeling of being able to confirm ovulation (after being told that I'd likely be infertile all through my life due to my PCOS diagnosis) was a feeling I'll never forget.

And now I'm here. I've trained with NFPTA to become a Fertility Awareness educator. I truly believe that folks having this information about their bodies and understanding their bodies is one of the most empowering things they can experience.
